About

History and mission

The Portuguese Meeting of Evolutionary Biology (ENBE) is an annual conference promoted by the Portuguese Society for Evolutionary Biology (APBE) in collaboration with universities and research centres in Portugal developing research in this scientific field, with two main goals:

A) Bringing together students and researchers on evolutionary biology to present and discuss their recent research findings, share knowledge, establish collaborations and design new projects.

B) Contribute for the dissemination of knowledge on Evolutionary Biology through non-academic sectors.

Format

This year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will be held online via Zoom/Colibri. All participants should ensure they have a stable internet network acess, a microphone and a webcam.

Participants who wish to present their research will have two different formats available:

  • Talk: a 15 minute presentation (10 min presentation plus 3 min Q+A), available to all conference attendees.
  • Flash talk: a 5 minute presentation, available to all conference attendees.

There will also be plenary talks by keynote speakers:

Marcelo Sánchez-Villagra (Paläontologisches Institut und Museum – Universität Zürich): The animal domestication process.

Frank E. Zachos (Natural History Museum Vienna, Austria): Species in theory and practice.
